Academics

El Sobrante Christian Elementary School offers a complete academic education with a spiritual dimension complementing the teaching of both home and church. Teachers provide an environment where children feel secure, loved and respected. All students in first grade and above are issued a Chromebook, promoting the use of modern tools for schoolwork and homework and teaching digital and online responsibility.

Lower Elementary (K-2nd)

Our Lower Elementary program provides a caring and engaging learning environment where young students can thrive. A full-day Kindergarten program lays a strong foundation, followed by a phonics-based reading curriculum in first and second grades. Students build math skills through hands-on learning and are introduced to technology at an early age.

In addition to academics, students enjoy music with two performances a year, physical education, library classes, special events, and field trips that make learning both meaningful and fun.

Upper Elementary (3rd-6th)

Our Upper Elementary program builds a strong foundation in California and U.S. History, science, mathematics, literature, and grammar. Students strengthen their math, writing, and public speaking skills while learning to evaluate current events through a biblical perspective and develop a Christian worldview.

Students also participate in music performances throughout the year and enjoy physical education, computer literacy, and library programs that support a well-rounded education.

Junior High (7th-8th)

Our Junior High program prepares students for high school through rigorous academics and Christ-centered learning. Students develop strong skills in English, mathematics, science, history, and Bible while building critical thinking, effective communication, and study habits.

Science classes include hands-on laboratory experiences and outdoor education opportunities, while history and Bible courses encourage students to view the world through a biblical perspective. Physical education promotes health, teamwork, sportsmanship, and Christian character, helping students grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

Each year, ESCS graduates are accepted into a variety of respected high schools, including North Hills Christian School, Berean Christian High School, Salesian College Preparatory, Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy, The Athenian School, as well as local charter and public high schools. Our strong academic foundation and focus on character development help prepare students for success in the next stage of their educational journey.

Accreditation

ESCS is accredited through the Western Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. Accreditation is a self-study process which encompasses the entire scope of the school’s curriculum, policies, and procedures. Accreditation involves input from the teaching staff, school board, parents, students, and administration as well as a rigorous visit from the WASC accreditation team. Our most recent accreditation visit was Spring 2026, and the team complimented our community and several aspects of the school.
